Mr. Umberger has practiced as a Landscape Architect for over 45 years in Arizona. In 2008 he re-established the offering of landscape architectural consulting services under the “landscapes” brand.
Previously to that, he provided services to prime consultants under the firm name of Umberger Associates.
After originally developing skills in landscape planting design, he moved on to mastering irrigation design, where he was one of the pioneers in establishing the design standards for which drip irrigation design is practiced in the Valley and is keystone to the Xeriscape approach to landscape design.
He is enhancing today’s landscapes by moving to LEEDTM practices of the profession of environmental design, along with Sustainable Building Advisor practices.
When becoming a practicing Architect, Martin has always had a special sensitivity to the overall development of the site features, the organization of the structures, and the finishes applied with the softscape that enhances the experience.
The practice of Architecture and the related technical requirements of designing structures has made Martin unusually skilled in the field of Landscape Architecture, when it comes to hardscape design and construction documentation that is integrated with the softscape planting designs.
Currently Martin is designing in Revit software and the BIM model with the integrated design process.
